On Sunday, May 3, we are setting aside our morning for something we have been looking forward to for a while. Thirteen children from ten families will be dedicated to God, their parents will publicly commit to raising them in God's ways, and the rest of us will make our own commitment: to love, pray for, and walk alongside these kids and their families.
This is not a formal ceremony. It is a community morning built around children and the people raising them.
What to expect
Doors open at 9:00 a.m. The room will be arranged with dedication families seated in the center, surrounded by extended family and the wider UChurch community. Starting at 9:30, a facilitator will walk through the meaning of the morning and what dedication means in this context.
Then, one family at a time, parents will speak over their children, pray, and dedicate themselves and their kids to God. Extended family and close friends are welcome to participate. The broader community will respond and pray together with each family.
After the families are prayed for, there will be time for food, conversation, and writing in the children's journals. Each child will receive a personal journal as a keepsake, and anyone in the room can write a blessing, prayer, or encouragement to place inside.
The children being dedicated
Freya, Levi, Georgia, Emily, Emanuele, Anneliese, Callum, Austin, Zoey, Benjamin, Judah, Naomi, and Malaya.
Arriving by 9:30 a.m. helps you catch the opening and makes sure families are settled before dedications begin. We expect to wrap up by around noon.
