This Sunday we have a special opportunity to welcome Wayne and Sara Jacobsen back to Calgary. Some of you may know Wayne from his writing, including He Loves Me, In Season, Finding Church, So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Anymore, and his co-authoring of The Shack. Wayne and Sara have a unique way of helping people talk honestly about living loved, walking through grief, and building real community, and we’re excited to hear from them again.
Both gatherings will take place at the Bowness Scout and Guide Hall (8551 Bowness Rd NW), so we get to enjoy the whole day together in one place, with use of the hall and park.
Schedule for the day:
9:30 AM – Morning Session
Exploring the depth and breadth of relational community (Shaped by input from our community.)
12:00 PM – Potluck Lunch
Burgers and hot dogs are provided. Please bring ready-to-serve food to share. With visitors expected—including some who read Wayne’s newsletter—this is a great chance to be generous hosts. Lawn chairs are also a good idea for the afternoon.
2:00 PM – Afternoon Session
The Deepest Love in the Darkest Place: how God met us when trauma came knocking. Wayne and Sara will share their own story of God’s presence in pain.
4:30 PM – Wrap up
Families, please know that children are welcome!
Both sessions will include time for Q&A. If you’d like to send in a question ahead of time, you can email it to brant.reding@everynation.org.
We’ll also record the sessions so that those who can’t make it won’t miss out completely.
We hope you can join us for this full-day gathering. Bring friends, family, or neighbours—it’s always richer when more people are around the table.
